Supercharger Kits - FAQ


  1. What is the 5th Gen Camaro SS supercharger kit, and how does it work?
    This supercharger kit is a performance upgrade that increases the engine’s horsepower by forcing more air into the combustion chamber. Unlike turbochargers, supercharger kits are belt-driven, providing instant throttle response with no lag.
  2. Does this kit fit my 5th Gen Camaro SS?
    This supercharger kit fits both Manual (LS3) and Automatic (L99) 5th Gen Camaro SS. The kit fits LS3 and L99 with hydraulic power steering.
  3. How does the Rotrex 5th Gen Camaro SS supercharger kit compare to kits from other brands?
    Beyond the inherit advantages of our unique traction drive supercharger technology, this kit is the only Camaro SS supercharger kit on the market that has a front facing inlet and thereby doesn’t require cutting in the strut-tower and allows for a cold-air intake.
  4. Is this Rotrex supercharger kit reliable for daily driving?
    Yes! This supercharger kit is engineered to OEM standards for reliability, making it a great option for both street and track vehicles. Proper installation and maintenance ensures long-term durability.
  5. How difficult is it to install this supercharger kit?
    Our 5th Gen Camaro SS supercharger kit is designed as a direct bolt-on, and installation is within the capabilities of most home mechanics.
  6. Do I need additional modifications to install this supercharger kit?
    No cutting, drilling or permanent modifications are required. It is however necessary to use an ATI Performance Damper, which is not included. Depending on your power target, it may be necessary to upgrade fuel injectors, valvetrain, cooling systems, drivetrain, amongst others. ECU tuning is always required.
  7. How much horsepower can I gain from this supercharger kit?
    Horsepower gains vary depending on the supercharger pulley size, but you should expect to get between 30% to 170% more power, depending on boost levels (pulley size), and supporting modifications. Power capability can easily be changed by changing the pulley size on the supercharger jackshaft – we’ve designed the kit to use the same belt length for all available pulley sizes.
  8.  Does this supercharger kit require regular maintenance?
    Yes, but very limited. The Rotrex supercharger uses a stand-alone lubrication system that requires periodic traction fluid changes to maintain peak performance and durability. The traction fluid change interval is only every 2 years or 50.000 miles (80.000 km), whichever comes first.
  9. Does this kit come with tuning?
    No, this kit is purely a supercharger bracket and drive kit
  10. Do I have to use SX150 Traction Fluid?
    Yes, there is no substitute for our SX150 Traction Fluid. Damage will occur if any other oils are used.
  11. When will this supercharger kit be available?
    The kit is scheduled for release in early 2026.
